Dr. Akin Fapohunda holds a Bachelor Degree from the University of Ibadan; M.S from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, USA, in Remote Sensing & Environmental Monitoring; and then Ph.D. from the University of Ibadan, in Digital Soil Variability Studies, Dr. Fapohunda also attended the International Institute for Aerospace Studies and Earth Sciences (ITC), Enschede, the Netherlands, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations' (NASA) Technology Application Centre, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA.
Dr. Fapohunda was in the Federal Public Service at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture; the Raw Materials Research & Development Council; the Director, Planning, Research, and Data Bank at the then National Agricultural Land Development Authority. He was also the Director, Space Science Office, Presidency from where he Voluntarily Retired in December 2000.
Dr. Fapohunda owns and runs the Primary School (Aflon Digital Academy), Secondary School (Aflon Digital College), and Tertiary and Vocational Education School (Aflon Digital Institute) all at Kuje, Abuja. He was a Senior Lecturer in Multimedia Technology and Digital Image Processing at Bingham University, Karu, Abuja (1999-2018).
Dr. Fapohunda was elected into the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) in 2009 and was also elected into the PROFESSIONAL FELLOWSHIP of the NIGERIA COMPUTER SOCIETY. He has since then participated in several professional undertakings as Educational and IT Consultants to Institutional and corporate bodies across the country. He is part of several Socio-Political Organisations:
He is a Member of Afenifere: the foremost organisation of the Yorubas; as the Director in charge of Research and Strategy. He is a Member of the Voice of Reason (VOR); a body of Yoruba Concerned Elders. He is the Secretary, Steering Committee: Eminent Elders Forum (EEF); an organization comprising 350 members retired from a variety of positions and drawn from across Nigeria.
He is the Convener; the Oduduwa Society; a body of Yoruba Professionals and Academia.
He is a technical writer and publisher of several books seeking to bring the knowledge of Computer Science to the level of everyone in Nigeria.
