Prominent Nigerians on Saturday attended a webinar entitled: ”Nigeria At Crossroad-Way forward out of our mental slavery’ where the raging issues of how Nigeria can either stand as one entity or disintegrate into various Nations was extensively discussed.
In attendance were key discussants from different fields of all human endeavours as they include Dele Farotimi, an activist lawyer, who was the guest speaker, Professor Hope Eghagha of University of Lagos, also a seasoned columnist with TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG), Dr Akin Fapounda, Otti Frances Ayenbi, Engr Alexander Neyin, former Senior Executive Officer of Chevron and lecturer and Dr Jones Edobor who was Chief-host alongside other hosts.
Their verdict at the webinar pointed clearly to the fact that Nigeria was heading to a point of no return as the ‘Fulani hegemonisation’ of Nigeria is fast blowing out of control.
The Aregbesolas, Akpobios, Amaechis are not belly aching over fulanisation of Nigeria-Farotimi
In his submission, Farotimi, a lawyer and activist made it abundantly clear that some prominent Nigerians are not belly aching over the ‘fulanisation of Nigeria because they are direct beneficiaries.
He said”when the Fulani Islamic agenda alarm was raised, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was a major identifier and he is still lamenting till date.
“The feudal system of governance is not affecting some people like the Orji Kalus,Aregbesolas, Amaechis, Akpabios and a host of others because they are major beneficiaries of the system.
Relating to an experience espoused by Prof Eghagha that his police orderly was not even aware Nigeria fought a civil war, Farotimi said” it’s not by accident because of the hegemonisation of poverty and ignorance in Nigeria to make people think of only to feed and drink made them to forget their history.
Two core northern regions exited since 1966, we’re virtually slaves in Nigeria-Dr Fapounda
Fapounda a renowned Yoruba activist didn’t mince words when he declared that the two core northern regions in Nigeria left the entity known as Nigeria since 1966.
He started by declaring that “there’s no human colour that’s black or white like snow the real issue is that we are mentally enslaved by pseudo ethnic captivity of power.
“We’ve virtually slept for too long that many Nigerians are willing to leave Nigeria because language or culture is a unit of separation, take Europe for example the population of the countries there are between 5million and 9million people and their commonality is language and culture, our population figure of 200million people is fake.
“Sweden, they speak Dutch, the Germans and the rest so the unit of separation is language and culture so the ‘Omoluabi’, the Itsekiri, Urhobo, so when we talk of ethnic capture it’s not that of Tinubu and his family, we need to talk of real ethnic capture to organise the individual part of Nigeria.
“We are only 27 participants here after this talk where do we go from here, when we talk they say go to National Assembly and nothing flies because the 1999 constitution (as amended) enslaved us as nothing flies without the north.
“We want talks and we want to reason as free citizens on the best way forward, we are not equals because we’ve been chained.
“We are not equals considering the way our territory in Yoruba territory was invaded as this is exactly what the Japanese did in 1944 when the US was invaded.
“You Yoruba if you don’t behave shut up we are in charge, we are enslaved, we are being captured, the truth is that we are all slaves in Nigeria.
“Since the core north ascribed to Sharia, they can be like Iran or Iraq and they exited Nigeria since 1966, what’s the remaining four regions doing,” he wondered.
“If the four regions can work together and make a constitution of their own and align is far better than to live where we are unsecured as they even shoot down aeroplane, it’s a serious business.
We need to redefine Nigeria, politically, socially, culturally before 2023 or is going to be a nightmare – Prof Eghagha
Eghagha in his submission at the webinar while rounding up stated clearly that there’s an urgent need to redefine Nigeria, politically, socially and culturally before 2023 or is going to be a nightmare.
Apparently sensing the dangers ahead, Prof Eghagha advised that before the tide blows Nigeria into oblivion, it’s absolutely necessary to redefine the country structurally and politically before the 2023 general election that is already gathering momentum across the country.
He explained that Nigeria is an imposition masqueraded by ethnic capture of power laced with who becomes what and who is loyal in quote to Abuja.
